Mentoring Session #2: Things To Do After Ministry

 

I have been ministering Inner Healing to people ever since I attended courses on it. That must have been more than 10 years ago. As much as ministering can be a very fulfilling and satisfying thing, it can be taxing. This is especially so when we get quite attached to the situation and problems that our Seekers share.

 

One of the thing I have been doing for years has been very effective in keeping myself free from carrying any burden or being too emotionally burdened by what I know or hear from Seekers. Ever since I started doing it, I feel great freedom and never burdened by any situation that is brought by Seekers. Infact, I feel that I can go on with my life without being emotionally burdened.

 

I have heard many stories from people who have been ministering to people got affected by those they minister to and as a result they feel depression, agitation, burdened, burnt out, etc. Therefore, I am very careful that I do a very simple prayer each time I am done ministering to people, in any capacity.

 

This is what I do:

1. Cut ungodly soul ties between me and the person/place I ministered to/at.
2. Release any emotions I may have carried to God.
3. Ask God to cleanse me of anything that may have attached itself to me.

 

I will just briefly explain what each means.

 

1. Cut ungodly soul ties between me and the person/place I ministered to/at

   • When we minister to someone, there are usually emotional ties because we emphatize and open up our hearts to them. This also happens at their level because they are vulnerable and opens up their spirit and soul to us.

2. Release any emotions I may have carried to God

   • Its quite impossible to not carry some sort of emotions because of what we hear and see, as Ministers. When we accumulate all the things we hear and see regularly, it can become a heavy burden. When this happens without having any release, we will burnt out.

3. Ask God to cleanse me of anything that may have attached itself to me

   • This is just an additional measure so that nothing demonic will attach to us, especially if you go to a certain place to minister. There was a time when I used to go to the Red Light District in the City of Pattaya to evangelize to Bar Girls aka Prostitute and also to a Fishing Village to outreach. I had to ensure that I cleanse myself before leaving these places. I could feel the heavy oppression whenever we go there.

 

The above 3 prayers usually take 1-2 mins to do. I usually will feel a sense of lightness immediately.

 

Testimony

There was a particular person who was a full-time worker who regularly does outreach. She told me that once she was hit with depression for weeks without knowing why. Someone ministered to her and told her that she had ungodly soul ties with someone she ministered to. So, she cut the ungodly soul ties and was totally set-free. She related this story to me when she heard me pray, after our group outreach together. She said that it was a good practice to do.
